The group comprising of Mr.Harsh Singh, Dr. Gautam Singh and Mr.Udayan Singh teamed up with Mr.Gobinda Chandra Biswas, an entrepreneur, who started his career in book trade right after completing his graduation from Calcutta University. Supernova, though it is headquartered in New Delhi started its operations as a distributor of English language general and trade books in Sept,2004 from Kolkata because the promoters felt that there was a need for an organized and professional distribution house in Eastern India. Supernova’s team soon made a mark for itself by 2006, as it obtained distribution accounts of reputed international publishers like Penguin Books,Harper Collins,Pan Macmillan, Britannica Encylopaedia, etc. Supernova started a full-fledged distribution and sales branch in Delhi towards the end of 2006 with a representative office in Lucknow. By beginning of 2007, Supernova’s market reach spread all over India with their own sales representatives servicing the book retailers in states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal, Assam,Orrisa,Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Andaman Nicobar, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. While in West and South of the country ,they started distributing books through wholesalers based in Mumbai and Chennai. Supernova’s intention of gaining recognition as a publisher of National and International repute was clear from the beginning,as they ,as early as 2006 published the autobiographical work of a great Indian humanist and internationalist,Dr.Madanjeet Singh,who heads the South Asia Foundation. His book titled “ Sasia Story†was published by Supernova in four languages Assamese, Manipuri, Maithali and Dzongkha( Bhutanese language) and was successfully distributed in the respective territories. But,as Supernova’s prime objective was to publish books and content in English,they soon tied up with an educational plus children books publishers in the US called Saddleback Educational Publishing and they published in 2007, 45 titles at a time under license from them for children based on the great classics of English literature. In 2007,they tied up with Webster International for their reference dictionary and since then they been either selling content on an exclusive basis from reputed international publishers like Myrmidon UK,Constable & Robinson,etc or they are signing for rights with publishers and agents like History Press,Brookings Institutions Washington DC,USA, David Higham Associates,UK,Boydell Press, UK,Struiks Publishers,South Africa,etc. Some of Supernova’s latest publications are: 1.
