Publishing Business

Supernova Publishers & Distributors Pvt Ltd was promoted in 2004 by a group of dynamic entrepreneurs, who had varied business interests and were eager to diversify into the world of publishing and distribution of books.

The group comprising of Mr. Harsh Singh, Dr. Gautam Singh and Mr. Udayan Singh teamed up with Mr. Gobinda Chandra Biswas, an entrepreneur, who started his career in book trade right after completing his graduation from Calcutta University.

Supernova’s initial foray into publishing has been with children literature, on license from Saddleback Educational Publishing Inc. [USA]. Consisting around 50 popular titles ranging from works of Shakespeare, Jules Verne, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Edgar Allen Poe, R. L. Stevenson, Alexander Dumas, brought out in colorful comic book style to usher young minds into the timeless classics of world literature.

Since then, Supernova has expanded its publishing-scape adding

  • Several works of non-fiction and fiction on exclusive territorial license from publishing houses, which includes non-fictions like Great Uprising in India 1857-58 by Rosie L. Jones, After the Raj by Hugh Purcel, A Critical History of English Literature [2 Vols] by David Daiches.   • Original English titles of budding/promising authors, like When The Lotus Blooms & The Present: A Gift from the Divine by K K Ayyar, Pankaj by Gautam Bhattacharya [renowned Sports Journalist], The Roster By Anukampa Rawat; etc,
  • English translations of selected gems from Bengali literature like collection of short stories by Ashapurna Devi and Sunil Gangopadhyay, one award winning novel of Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay’s unforgettable adventure classic, Navaneeta Dev Sen’s evocative journal about her maiden pilgrimage, Buddhadev Guha’s heartwarming romantic narrative; to name a few.
