Me and My Environment is a series of three books for Introductory to Class 2 that has been developed keeping a simple purpose in mind — “that the scope of Environmental Studies is not merely knowing about one’s environment, but discovering one’s position within it and developing an identity that contributes to its nurture and betterment.”

Hence, starting from the pre-primary level there is constant correlation between exposure and interaction. This well structured and child-friendly series has a common pedagogical approach that can be summarised as

Stoking the curiosity of the child by presenting real-life situations and events that he or she can relate to.

Arousing an interest in knowing more about the topic at hand.

Presenting the information in a graded and level-friendly manner such that concepts flow from the known to the ‘to-know’.

Retaining interest during the presentation.

Asking direct and straight forward questions to assess assimilation.

Presenting situations that require students to figure out answers or use reasoning, analytical and evaluative skills for problem solving.

The series conforms to the ICSE syllabus published in Nov. 2016.

With the development of the learners’ reading skills the text content in Level 2 is in greater detail than before. Yet it is ably supplemented with enough graphics and images to make each topic more meaningful and interesting to study.

It is hoped that Me and My Environment will prove to be an enjoyable companion and guide for the young student.
